Development and execution of a territorial development and spatial planning operation aiming the renewal of the historical centres of Recife and Olinda creating local added value, resorting to privi- leged partnerships, becoming a reference in terms of urban renewal and urban reconstruction, at a regional and national scale. The intervention proposal considered the goals issued by preliminary studies and plans drawn up for the site, in particular the Framework instruments (Planos Diretores) of Recife and of Olinda. This project evolved in two main phases – a Strategic Plan and Four Detailed Plans (Quay José Estelita and Quay Santa Rita, Recife Island, Vila Naval and Couqueiral and Olinda Isthmus) with 1.35 million m2 of gross floor area in a new urban land, with infrastructures, land plots dedicated to tourism related activities and equipments, figuring 9% and 12% respectively, i.e. a solution that enables the multifunctionality of this territory, increasing its vocation for public enjoyment and leisure.
