Quinta da Arrabida - Monte da Rocha is a private estate just 36 kilometres north of the Algarve. The land is south facing and delimited by Monte da Rocha lake. The project is focused on environmental sustainability, besides being integrated in a regional development strategy, which aims at creating a touristic destination that contributes also to economic development and international branding of the region, associating it with a qualified and environmentally sustainable development, as well as integrating the region on the golf international championships route.
The architectural image of the resort has, as its main cultural reference, the traditional architecture of the region (Alentejo), as well as a strong relationship with the natural landscape, in what concerns materials, using schist in several buildings.
On the highest point, there is an imposing Manor House (’Quinta’) which is being rebuilt to be a Rural Hotel, extending to 2000m2 (21,400 sq. ft.), which is currently under reconstruction using local stone and materials with hand made roof tiles.
The owner has obtained planning permission for the estate to become a sports, health and fitness resort to include a spa hotel, a second hotel with a championship golf course, tennis centre, and sailing school, together with high quality real estate.
